Renault Duster to get hybrid powertrain this festive season, Nissan Tekton won’t
The Renault Duster will gain a hybrid powertrain option this festive season, a feature not offered on its platform-mate, the Nissan Tekton.
The Renault Duster will be offered with a 1.8-litre strong hybrid petrol engine this festive season, a powertrain option not available on its platform-mate, the newly launched Nissan Tekton. The hybrid setup pairs a 109hp engine with a 49hp electric motor and a 20hp hybrid starter generator, drawing from a 1.4kWh battery, for a combined system output of 160hp and 172Nm.
Both the Tekton and Duster otherwise share identical engine options: a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol producing 100hp and 166Nm, paired only with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol producing 163hp and 280Nm, available with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed dual-clutch automatic.
The two SUVs are built on the shared Renault-Nissan CMF-B platform and manufactured at Renault’s Tamil Nadu facility. Nissan has priced the Tekton from Rs 10.49 lakh across six variants, while the Duster starts at Rs 10.49 lakh (following an earlier pre-booking price of Rs 10.29 lakh) across five variants.
Both SUVs will compete against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Volkswagen Taigun in India’s mid-size SUV segment.
